You are not who you take care of, even though you love them very much or otherwise feel compelled to invest yourself in them. You are not the work that you do. You existed before you had your job and before you loved those that are in your life. Do you want to participate in an experiment?

Make a list of events that changed the course of your life or changed to way you viewed the world. Let the first one be the most recent event; let the last one be your conception; and let those in between be in chronological order. Here’s one that I am making up as an example:

1. Opening a private practice

2. My child entering adolescence

3. My heart attack

4. COVID

5. I married my husband

6. I met my husband

7. My daughter got hurt

8. I graduated from nursing school

9. I left my home town

10. I was divorced

11. My children were born

12. I got married

13. I graduated from high school

14. My junior prom

15. My family moved to a new town

16. My mother and father were divorced

17. My brother was born

18. I was born

19. I was conceived

You should list 10-20 events. You do not need to give details. You are the only one who needs to know what each event actually entails. Just write down enough so that when the list is read back to you that you know what each event refers to.

Hit the call to action button below and schedule an appointment with me to participate in a meditation practice that will help you understand how the events in your life affect the way you perceive events and life itself.

There is no obligation beyond this one exercise and as an introduction to my meditation and mindfulness services you will receive a discounted rate of $25 for this one experiment.
